List of Actively Licensed Gambling Sites in Ontario iGaming Market
The time has finally come. After years of regulatory speculation and legislative wrangling, Ontario’s competitive, private-operator iGaming market is finally live. It consists of more than three dozen online sports, casino, and poker operators; an impressive number, and one that continues to ride due to the market’s burgeoning potential.
The poker scene, for example, has gained a number of globally-renowned brands, including 888Poker, PartyPoker, and PokerStars. For sports bettors, an inspired showing includes foreign favorites like Bet365 and Unibet, alongside home-grown hero, theScore Bet. Over on the casino side of things, we now have major players like BetMGM, Jackpot City, and Royal Vegas.
These are just a few of the prime candidates on the market today. Additional companies are still on the hunt for a licence, and the list just keeps growing. We’ll keep you posted on that front. For now, let’s get right to the information you came here for.
List of Licensed Ontario Casinos for Real Money
The following is a complete list of active licensees, per the official website of iGaming Ontario (iGO). It includes the website and DBA title, operator name (host company), type(s) of gambling on offer, and the prominent software suppliers each employs. When we started this page, operators with day-one authorization (those who began accepting local customers on April 4, 2022), were listed in bold. Now that it’s grown so much larger (it began with only 18), we’ve altered our index to include official launch dates.
We will continue updating this list as more operators achieve regulatory status.
PRO TIP: How To Tell If a Website has Legal AGCO/iGO Authorization
According to a statement on the official iGaming Ontario website:
“Every internet gaming website offered by a fully registered and approved Operator in Ontario will have iGO’s logo displayed. If you see this logo you know that the website operations are carefully monitored by iGO and regulated by AGCO, giving you the confidence that you’re playing on a secure website that offers a safer and more socially responsible experience.”
Look for the iGaming Ontario logo
Although we strive to maintain accuracy at all times, please understand that our list of legal Ontario casinos, poker rooms and sportsbook operators is accurate and up to date as of our writing it, but may not be up to date as of your reading it. We update no less than once a week. You’re welcome to check the province’s current list of iGO Regulated Operators for precise clarification.

Real Money Casinos Ontario – The Beginning of a New Era
It’s been a very long road to get where we are now. For may years, dating back to the late 1990s, Ontarians had no other option but to do their iGaming with overseas websites. It was a risky business; far riskier than the act of gambling on its own. Over the years, the global landscape improved – better security, greater responsibility, stricter 0regulation. But it would take nearly two decades for Ontario to make any headway into iGaming.
In 2015, provincial regulators launched PlayOLG, a hone-grown operation just for players within Ontario. It was the first time residents had a locally authorized website to place real money bets on. But with no competition in the market, it wasn’t very enticing – too few games, little or no live tables, below average promotions. Regulators were well aware that a competitive market would draw more players, so they began contemplating legal routes to that end.
In March 2019, a request was made to the federal government to amend the Criminal Code in such a way as to give Ontario the right to authorize and licence commercial operators. In November 2020, Bill C-218 was introduced, paving the way for single-event sports betting, and granting Ontario’s request at the same time. That bill was passed in April 2021.
Ontario immediately set to work, tying up regulatory ends and accepting applications for licences. One year later, on April 4, 2022, the open market went live with 18 real money online casinos, poker rooms and sportsbooks.
PRO TIP: Three Reasons to Choose Legal Ontario Casinos
Ontarians – all Canadians, for that matter – have the advantage of choice. We can choose to gamble at any website that welcomes players from the Great White North, whether it be locally approved by the AGCO and iGO, or operating from a distant island on the other side of the world. Such is our right and privilege as citizens of this great nation. As someone who knows this industry inside and out, I can give you three very good reasons why Ontarians would do well to choose local.
1. Fairness in Transparency
An Ontario licence requires all software systems to undergo strict scrutiny from auditors. Transparency of gaming results equates to unquestionable fairness of all casino games, especially the RNG (computer-generated) variety. Not all offshore operators are held to such high standards.
2. Fast & Forthcoming Payouts
When you win at one of Ontario’s licensed gambling sites, you get paid, period. Withdrawals tend to be quicker as transfers go through local financial channels.
3. Strict Security and Data Protection
Ontario requires operators to uphold the highest level of data security and player protections. No third party will ever have access to your information or sell it to the highest bidder. The iGO makes every effort to ensure your personal and financial information is private, and that it stays that way.
4. Promoting Social Responsibility
The number one priority of Ontario’s government in opening a competitive market was to make sure players remain safe from the harms of problem gambling. Regulatory Standards prohibit operators from the predatory advertising tactics so many offshore operators employ. In addition to this, betting activity is monitored to raise awareness and help identify harmful behavior before it gets out of hand. Voluntary sit-out and self-exclusion programs are in place to give players more control.

Yes, online casinos are legal in Ontario.

Online gambling has never been illegal in Ontario, per say, but it was not explicitly authorized (made legal) until just recently. In June of 2021, the federal government passed Bill C-218, permitting each province to authorize and regulate single-event sports betting. Ontario used this amendment as a catalyst to justify its own legal framework, allowing for a competitive iGaming market. Under the new rules, Ontario’s market went live on April 4, 2022, featuring online casinos, poker rooms and sports betting websites.
